Race Bridge: The Movement Against Anti-Asian Racism
Thursday, April 1, 2021 | 2pm-3pm

With racial equity taking center stage around the world, the Asian American community is battling a surge in hate crimes stirred from COVID-19. A recent report found that hate crimes against Asian Americans increased by nearly 150% in 2020. Experts agree that racist labeling of the Corona Virus as the “China Virus” by political and other high-profile leaders has incited increased anti-Asian sentiment. But they caution that it isn’t a new problem and has long existed in our country.

Join FUEL for a discussion about the fight against xenophobia and Anti-Asian discrimination.  During the discussion we will explore:

  • America’s history of Anti-Asian racism and recent injustices marring the community
  • First-hand accounts from Milwaukeean’s who’ve experienced the pain of Anti-Asian hate crimes and bias
  • Resources for individuals, communities, and workplaces affected by acts of violence and prejudice against Asians and Asian Americans
  • Ways to support the movement that’s putting an end to Anti-Asian sentiment

This discussion has been designed to raise awareness and sensitivity about racial injustice.  This is a safe space for everyone to learn, ask questions, grow, and become a better ally.  Please register and share with your networks.
