Do you find yourself struggling to recognize the legitimacy of your accomplishments or feel you'll be "found out"? Do you worry that you'll be seen as a fraud? If you feel you connect with these questions, you may be experiencing a phenomenon known as the Imposter Complex.

The Imposter Complex is “A psychological phenomenon in which people are unable to internalize their accomplishments,"  it is the feeling that you don't belong where you are, and you only got there through luck.  Individuals experiencing "impostorism" believe others have inflated perceptions of their abilities and fear being evaluated. It affects people across age and industry, with nearly 70% of high performing professionals experiencing "impostorism" at least once in their lifetime. Those dealing with impostor tendencies put a considerable amount of pressure on themselves to maintain the façade and as such are known to exhibit high levels of perfectionism and workaholic behaviors. The complex can impact mental health, personality, hamper ambition, hurt productivity and develop into a host of other self-sabotaging behaviors.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER

Samantha Maldonado is an agile, organizational leader with proven success in creating strong cultures through transformational change, innovation, and measurable and scalable business results. In 2018, she and her husband started “Pinpoint Solutions”, a firm consulting in the areas of advertising, branding, professional development & coaching, public speaking engagements, diversity & inclusion training, and lean/change management methodology training.

Samantha is currently the President of the Prospanica Milwaukee chapter, President and Founding Board member of Stellar Collegiate Charter School, Co-Chair of UPAF NextGen, and Council member for the Multi-Cultural Advisory Council of Visit Milwaukee. She was also most recently a commissioner for Milwaukee County's Emergency Medical Services Council, Board Director for Wheaton Franciscans Central Market Foundation and Chair of the 2017 and 2018 Greater Milwaukee Hispanic Leadership Summit and a founding member of the Hispanic resource group at Northwestern Mutual.

Samantha has been recognized by the Milwaukee Business Journal's Forty under 40. She earned her Business & Management B.A degree and Masters in Business Administration at Alverno College. She also co-owns a restaurant, Snifters Tapas & Spirits.
