Chief Diversity & Inclusion Officer Aurora Health Care and President Aurora Health Care Foundation

Cristy Garcia-Thomas’ work is dedicated to integrating diversity throughout Aurora from patients to caregivers. As the President of Aurora Health Care Foundation, Cristy focuses on raising and investing money to better the Aurora community, further more on bettering the greater Milwaukee community. 

Join us, as we dive deeper into the topic of diversity inclusion in the corporate world and learn from Aurora’s leading executive officer on how to do it all. We will meet at Aurora Sinai and enjoy coffee and a light breakfast as we learn from one of Milwaukee's best leaders. You won't want to miss Cristy's inspiring presentation.



Cristy Garcia-Thomas joined Aurora Health Care in 2011. As chief diversity and inclusion officer, she leads system initiatives which incorporate diversity and inclusion into Aurora’s culture, from patient care and experience, caregiver recruitment and engagement, retention and organizational development to supplier diversity, marketing, community relations and service quality programs.  

As president of the Aurora Health Care Foundation, Cristy oversees funds raised and invested for all Aurora hospitals, Aurora Family Service, Aurora clinics, the Aurora Research Institute, The Healing Center and Aurora at Home. She also has responsibility for the strategy of Aurora’s social responsibility and community benefits programs and the operations of Aurora Family Service, the Walker’s Point Clinic, The Healing Center and programs that are a part of Aurora’s Well Community Division. She is a member of Aurora’s office of the CEO executive leadership team.

Prior to joining Aurora, Cristy served as the president of the United Performing Arts Fund (UPAF). Her role at UPAF included strategic planning, revenue growth, fundraising, marketing, community relationships, profit and loss, and general management functions. Before joining UPAF, she was publisher and vice president of the Specialty Media Division of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and worked for The Wichita (Kan.) Eagle.

Cristy currently serves on the board of directors for Greater Milwaukee Committee, the United Community Center and the Wisconsin Club. She has received the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Wisconsin Latina of the year Award, The Business Journal’s Women of Influence Award, The Business Journal’s 40 under 40 Award, the Hispanic Professionals of Greater Milwaukee Executive of the Year Award, the United States Post Office Women Putting a Stamp on Milwaukee Award, and the Milwaukee Business Journal’s Power List in Arts.

Cristy holds a bachelor’s degree from Kansas State University and completed executive-level programs at Northwestern University and Harvard Business School.


Rapkin Auditorium is located on the lower level of Building A, across the street from the main medical complex.

Free parking is available in the parking structure and surface lots surrounding the hospital. Free valet parking is available Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., at the main entrance of the hospital.
