Head of Educational Outreach, MKE Metro Sewerage District (MMSD)
Cora Lee-Palmer is the head of educational outreach programs for the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District (MMSD). Charged with protecting the region’s water resources, Cora and hundreds of her MMSD colleagues make it possible to capture and clean rain and waste water for over 1.1M people in 28 communities, covering a 420 mi² area.
Milwaukeeans literally touch MMSD’s work every day through the use of water, enjoying beautiful and clean waterways, rain water collection programs, flood-protection, hazardous waste collection services, adopt-a-river efforts and more.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Cora Lee-Palmer’s professional career has been peppered with unplanned detours that she says have helped her find her “niche” as an academic and community engagement expert. In her current role, she is MMSD’s lead educational outreach expert supporting school administrators, teachers, and students through presentations, curriculum development and hands-on learning activities. Leveraging partnerships with other like-minded organizations and securing environmental education grants, MMSD’s educational outreach efforts have continuously expanded with her leadership.
Lee-Palmer has served as board Director at Urban Ecology Center and as an advisory board member to various local environmental organizations. She is a graduate of Concordia University in Milwaukee and has earned her MBA at Cardinal Stritch University and other academic certificates.
