Cora Lee-Palmer
ead of Educational OutreachMKE Metro Sewerage District (MMSD)

Cora Lee-Palmer is the head of educational outreach programs for the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District (MMSD). Charged with protecting the region’s water resources, Cora and hundreds of her MMSD colleagues make it possible to capture and clean rain and waste water for over 1.1M people in 28 communities, covering a 420 mi² area.

Milwaukeeans literally touch MMSD’s work every day through the use of water, enjoying beautiful and clean waterways, rain water collection programs, flood-protection, hazardous waste collection services, adopt-a-river efforts and more.

Join FUEL for a special water-themed luncheon featuring MMSD’s chief community educator.  She’ll help us understand how we all play a role in the huge ecosystem of the world and what we can do to help keep Milwaukee’s water crystal clear.

What to expect:

  • Deeper insight into the work of MMSD and what might happen if the organization wasn’t in place to protect our water resources
  • Information about programs that you can leverage to make your own households more sustainable day-to-day
  • An opportunity to hear Cora's personal career story and how she became so passionate about teaching Milwaukeeans all about water protection.

Cora is an interactive and lively educator who specializes in “distilling” complex and technical information into relatable, actionable knowledge.  This is sure to be a lively discussion that just won’t be the same without you!

Cora Lee-Palmer’s professional career has been peppered with unplanned detours that she says have helped her find her “niche” as an academic and community engagement expert.  In her current role, she is MMSD’s lead educational outreach expert supporting school administrators, teachers, and students through presentations, curriculum development and hands-on learning activities.  Leveraging partnerships with other like-minded organizations and securing environmental education grants, MMSD’s educational outreach efforts have continuously expanded with her leadership.

Lee-Palmer has served as board Director at Urban Ecology Center and as an advisory board member to various local environmental organizations. She is a graduate of Concordia University in Milwaukee and has earned her MBA at Cardinal Stritch University and other academic certificates.
