Cora Lee-Palmer
Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District (MMSD)

Cora Lee-Palmer is an Educational Outreach Coordinator for Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District (MMSD) in Milwaukee Wisconsin where she provides management and oversight of the development, implementation, and coordination of its educational outreach initiatives that seek to increase public understanding and awareness about regional water quality issues.

What to expect:

  • Insight of the initiatives on freshwater
  • Details about how MMSD collaboration started-up and what’s in store for the future
  • An opportunity to hear Cora's personal story of leadership and unique grasp of sustainability
  • Lively Q&A session that just won’t be the same without you!

Her professional career has been fueled by diverse interests and skills.  Her career path has been peppered with unplanned detours, of which, she feels, have led her to find her “niche” as an academic and community engagement expert.  Through these detours, she has persevered by seizing opportunities for growth. Self- determination has guided her to rise from entry-level employment to mid-level management status.

In her current role, she works extensively with school administrators, teachers, and students in the metropolitan Milwaukee area engaging them in professional development, providing curriculum development support, and delivering a variety of learning activities for multiple grade levels.  Leveraging partnerships with other like-minded organizations and securing environmental education grants has allowed the scope of outreach efforts at MMSD to continuously expand.

Lee-Palmer has been quietly, but purposely, giving back to her community: locally, she has served as a board member at St. Mark A.M.E. Church, Board Director at Urban Ecology Center, and as an advisory board member to various organizations; Nationally, she has served in various leadership roles with the Association of African Methodist Episcopal Scouts (AAMES). She continues to support regional scouting programs through her work at MMSD.

Her academic achievements include an undergraduate degree (Management and Communications, Concordia University, Milwaukee, Wisconsin), and a Masters of Business Administration degree (Cardinal Stritch University, Glendale, Wisconsin) and other academic certificates.
