Healing Dysfunctional Meeting Disorders

Instructor: Christine Hill, Future Milwaukee

Have you ever sat in a meeting wondering why you were there?  Have you ever been frustrated by the (perhaps well intentioned) individuals who seem to take over meetings leaving little room for others to speak.  Have you ever rolled your eyes at the folks who stay silent in meetings but won't stop complaining about the outcome? If you've answered yes, you have suffered from the pain of meetings.

Participants of this workshop will
 learn why meetings are so painful – how they can reduce that pain and in turn produce collaborative environments that encourages creativity, reduce frustration and poor morale, and ultimately build team effectiveness.

You will also learn and practice key conflict management tools that can be applied to meetings at work as well as everyday life.  This will be one of the best professional hours of your life - a meeting you won't regret at all!

With over 20 years of organizational development, human resources, negotiations, and communications experience in public, private, and nonprofit sector leadership roles, Christine Hill brings a unique and progressive perspective to the process and field of community leadership and team-building. As the Executive Director of Marquette's Future Milwaukee program, Christine exercises expertise, knowledge, and success in:

  • Facilitating strategic planning and/or collaborative processes;
  • Developing and implementing customized communication programs that involve significant organizational change, public policy issues, as well as internal and external organizational challenges;
  • Assessing individual and group strengths and designing processes to enhance overall effectiveness;
  • Mediating between individuals and groups, providing conflict resolution and intervention when individuals, groups or organizations are blocked from realizing their vision; and
  • Coaching and counseling individuals at all levels of the organization and in a variety of roles within the private, public, and non-profit sectors.

Christine has been a City Alderman and Mayor, Chairman of the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewage District Commission as well as Director of Human Resources and Organizational Development in public sector and private manufacturing environments. Her clients have included private, nonprofit, and public sector organizations with an interest in developing processes to promote collaboration among their stakeholders.
