Black Len's Influencers Showcase + Screening

Black Lens, a program of the Milwaukee Film Festival, showcases fiction and documentary films made by emerging and established African-American directors.  During this year’s Milwaukee Film Festival (which is set for September 28-October 12) Black Lens will screen eight full-length features and two short-film programs.

SUCCESS + INCREASING AWARENESS

Black Lens leverages the power of film and great storytelling to engage Milwaukeeans of all racial backgrounds, providing a rich multi-cultural experience.  The growth of Black Lens is a testament to our city’s need for culturally diverse programming – but we still need to boost awareness.

Last year, Black Lens film screenings attracted a total audience of 3,510 (a 96% increase over the inaugural year), with an estimated 33% of attendees being Black Americans.  The program is a success – but there is an enormous opportunity for Milwaukeeans – Black Milwaukeeans in particular – to enjoy Black Lens as a cultural and educational experience.

CAN YOU HELP?

I’m reaching out to you because I believe that together, Milwaukee’s influencers can drive attendance to and awareness of Black Lens, making more people – especially people of color - a part of the cultural treasure that is the Milwaukee Film Festival.  I’m hosting a sneak-peek screening and showcase for Milwaukee Film’s Black Lens program and I would be trilled if you could attend.  Here’s the details

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM THE EVENT

This will be a wonderful time of interactive learning and sharing.  We’ll hear from Black Lens co-programmers Geraud Blanks and Donte McFadden in addition to Jonathan Jackson, Milwaukee Film Executive & Creative Director.  You’ll see snippets of select films in this year’s program, learn the ins-and-outs of current outreach programs, get an opportunity to take advantage of exclusive influencer benefits and understand the benefits of becoming a Black Lens Council member.

Especially of value will be your contributions and suggestions about how we can boost Black Lens awareness and leverage your influence for increased engagement.  No pressure.  In some cases all that will be needed is…well, a Facebook post.  But your capacity to influence in the way you influence is what I most treasure.  I’m honored to have your consideration.
